Peruvian Naturals has donated our earnings pledge for the second quarter of 2021 to three women-administered agricultural collectives in rural Peru.

Las Flores De Catute Group’s story

According to their Kiva profile:

The Las Flores de Catute communal bank is a responsible, joyful group of 14 women. The group is led by Paola, the president, as well as a treasurer and a secretary. Because of the pandemic, only these three are in the photo.

Paola is 29 years old. She is charismatic, hardworking, and very joyful. She has two small children—ages 4 and 6—who, along with her partner, motivate her to succeed. She makes a living selling food, drinks, and candy. She has a café she is trying to keep in operation. The pandemic has reduced her income, but she has the support of her partner, who is a bricklayer.

Also, she raises hens and grows cacao plants in order to earn a little more income. Her goal is to continue growing and eventually open a restaurant serving “chifa” (Chinese-Peruvian fusion cuisine).

At this time, she is seeking a loan to buy hens and to maintain her plot of cacao in order to continue offering good products to her customers, who will spread the word.

They also raise pigs. They are very independent and hard workers and take on each challenge responsibly.

Tibel is asking for her loan through Kiva so she can buy tools and fertilizers for her cacao plot. It will allow her to have better yields and satisfy her customers.

Additionally, raising pigs is a second reinforcing source of income. They are fed, raised, and the meat is sold every three months. She has a goal of buying a plot of land and improving every day. At some point she hopes to have a clothing sales business so her daughter can work and have that business.
